4 TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR MORE COLOUR

We've spent the last two years in sweatpants, leggings, sports brasany and every type of loungewear basically. It's time to snap *clap* out *clap* of *clap* it! Loungewear aside, neutrals have always been trendy and let’s be honest, they're easy to match. Neutrals take away a huge part of the outfit decision-making process away. I recently spent a couple of weeks in Europe and every time I go, I’m always amazed at how colourful is normalized. I was the one who stuck out like a sore thumb on the days I was in neutral head-to-toe! This made me realize that colours add an extra layer of fun to dressing!Neutrals are a comfort zone for most of us. You may want to integrate more bold colours into your wardrobe, but you simply don't know where to begin. The bare thought of wearing colour might be overwhelming in itself. Good news: wearing colour is easier than you think. ANYONE can do it.

The Spice Girls said it best: "spice up your life"! Here are 5 tips on how to wear more colour:

TIP 1: START SOMEWHERE, ANYWHERE

Introduce colours to your outfit one piece at a time—no need to go for a vibrant monochromatic look right off the bat (and no, it's not the only way to use colour). If you gravitate to usually wearing all black, opt for a colourful coat or overshirt! If wanting to transition more colour into your wardrobe is a big transition for you, start small. Another hack is to wear a coloured dress as this will take away the stress of putting together an outfit—slip it on and you’re ready to go! The goal is to gradually step out of your comfort zone without being totally frazzled about putting together an outfit.

TIP 2: STICK TO YOUR STYLE

Avoid going for double newness. For example, if you don’t normally wear puffy sleeves, avoid a colourful puff-sleeve top as you’ll be introducing two new ways of dressing which make that one item of clothing more intimidating. Instead, you can swap a classic piece for a colourful one (like a button-down shirt).

TIP 3: DISCOVER THE COLOURS THAT SUIT YOU BEST

People are often intimidated by wearing colour because of all that chit-chat about colour and skin tone pairing. Don’t let this intimidate you! It’s lot easier than it sounds. What this means is that every skin tone has colours that give them a nice glow. It’s the equivalent of clothing styles to your advantage by accentuating certain body features. TIP 4: DON'T UNDERESTIMATE ACCESSORIES

Accessories can be more powerful than item of clothing: jewelry, shoes, bagsyou name it! They can completely change your look. Not feeling the colourful clothing vibe? Opt for colours sunglasses or a statement shoe. This is the EASIESway to integrate more colour into your outfits without fully committing to an item of clothing. My go-to when I’m in a hurry is a straight-leg jean, a white t-shirt and a coloured or patterned shoe (very much into kitten heels atm). We’re often willing to be more adventurous with our accessories rather than our clothing as it’s easier to rotate different styles. Trust me: accessories are small but mighty!
